Fashion with a Call to Action.

Zersten is an exploration of self.
A necessary aspect of industrial growth.
An emotional Dropping ground.
A life outlet.

The brand Zersten was created to be a flexible place to put concepts together that didn’t always fit together. Creator and designer, Sarah, wanted to explore the fashion industry under the protection of a brand where she could unify all of her experiments and messages. From life-threatening conditions that get little media coverage to the issue of fast fashion, Sarah wanted a place to promote multiple issues.

The word “zersten” doesn’t mean anything, it isn’t a word at all. It is a nonsense word without definition that portrays a strong tone with powerful syllables.

Zersten was founded on the belief that fashion is art and a message that is displayed through art could be stronger through fashion. People have become accustom to art, change is expected and there is less on the market to shock the observer. Strange fashion is expected on the runway but not as often in your neighborhood. Fashion is used as a form of self expression so what better way to display a message than a walking, talking, human billboard.

About the Designer

Sarah started drawing at a young age and wanted to participate in everything fashion. Design didn’t seem to be a possible career until she made her prom dresses. With her understanding of flat to form she finds drafting to be her favorite part of design. “Bringing a sketch to life is one of the most satisfying things.” After a semester abroad in Paris, Sarah was determined to further explore couture techniques and use them abundantly in her designs.

With a focus on waste reduction, Sarah is committed to doing her part to
reduce the carbon footprint of the fashion industry. Sarah has a love for high fashion but she is
also fascinated with historical dress, she loves to watch period dramas to get inspired.
